What UptimePilot gives you compared with the alternatives
Before you pay for monitoring, compare it with the usual alternatives: a free pinger, a script on your own server or a full performance monitoring suite.
| Capability | UptimePilot | Free uptime pingers | DIY cron and curl | Enterprise APM suites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Check interval | 1 minute, 30 seconds from Team | Often 5 minutes | Whatever you schedule, from one server | 1 minute, often as an add-on |
| Second region confirms before an alert | Included on every plan | Usually one location | No, one server sees one route | Varies by product |
| Check types | HTTP(S), keyword, API assertions, ping, TCP port, SSL, domain expiry, heartbeat | Mostly HTTP status and ping | Whatever you script and maintain | Wide, usually priced per module |
| Alerts and escalation | Email, SMS, Slack, Microsoft Teams, webhook, escalation by time | Email, sometimes one chat tool | Email, if you wire it up | Wide, with incident tooling |
| Status pages | Included, custom domain from Team | Basic or not offered | You build and host it | Often a separate product |
| Reports | Uptime percent, p50, p95 and p99 response times, monthly SLA PDF from Team | Uptime percent | You parse your own logs | Detailed, built for engineers |
| Setup time | Minutes | Minutes | Hours, plus ongoing upkeep | Days to weeks, agents on servers |
| Pricing model | Per team with members included, from $49 per month | Free with low limits | Your engineering time | Per host or per seat |
What every plan includes
No feature that keeps you informed is held back for a higher tier. The plans differ in volume, interval and reporting.

- Alerts by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams and webhook, plus SMS within the monthly allowance
- Escalation to the next person when an alert is not acknowledged in time

- Status pages with components, incident updates, scheduled maintenance and subscriber emails

Yearly billing saves 50%
Every plan costs half as much per month when you pay for the year. Starter is $288 a year instead of $588, Team $588 instead of $1,188, Business $1,488 instead of $2,988 and Enterprise $3,588 instead of $7,188.
You are billed once a year, on the day you subscribe. Limits such as SMS alerts reset every month during the year, so a yearly plan gives you the same monthly allowance as a monthly plan.
What happens when you reach a limit
Your monitors never stop because of a limit. When you have used every monitor slot in your plan, the existing monitors keep running and you add more by moving to a larger plan.
When you use up the monthly SMS alerts, alerts continue by email, Slack, Microsoft Teams and webhook until the allowance resets at the start of the next month.
You upgrade from your account at any time. The new limits apply as soon as the upgrade is paid.
Billing questions
01
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You cancel from your account in a few clicks. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and it does not renew after that.
02
Can I change plans in the middle of a billing cycle?
Yes. When you move to a larger plan or from monthly to yearly billing, you are charged the difference immediately and the new limits apply right away. When you move to a smaller plan, the change takes effect at the next renewal.
03
Can I get my money back?
Payments are final. The few exceptions, such as a duplicate charge, are listed in the refund policy. Cancel before your renewal date to avoid the next charge.
04
Do I get invoices?
Yes. Every payment comes with a receipt you can download from your account. Enterprise plans also include invoicing for finance teams.
05
Which currency do you charge in?
All prices are in US dollars (USD). Your bank may show the amount converted into your local currency.
06
Is there a setup fee?
No. The price of the plan is the full price. There are no setup fees and no charges per team member within your plan.
